In the colorful town of Jaipur lived a painter named Bhanu. His art was famous—every wall he touched turned into beauty. But inside, Bhanu was always sad.
One day, the King of Jaipur called him to paint a huge mural in the palace courtyard.
Bhanu worked for days under the sun, mixing bright reds, yellows, and blues. But no matter how beautiful the painting became, his face stayed dull.
The King noticed and asked, “Bhanu, your art is full of smiles. Why don’t you ever smile yourself?”
Bhanu sighed. “Your Majesty, I have painted beauty for others all my life. But my own life has no color.”
The King smiled. “Then tomorrow, I shall pay you with something no gold can buy.”
The next day, when Bhanu arrived, he saw the palace filled with hundreds of schoolchildren. The King said, “Bhanu, paint something today—but not for me. Paint for them.”
So Bhanu began.
He painted rivers, trees, birds, and laughing faces. The children clapped, cheered, and laughed. One little girl tugged his sleeve and said, “Uncle, your colors make me happy!”
Bhanu looked at the child—and for the first time in years, he smiled.
That evening, the King said gently, “See, Bhanu? When we share our gifts with others, we find joy ourselves.”
Bhanu bowed deeply. “Your Majesty, I have received my best payment today.”
From that day on, Bhanu never painted for fame or money. He painted for people—and every wall he touched brought not only color but happiness.
