Milo the Mouse Finds His Bed

Milo the Mouse Finds His Bed

A small mouse in a cozy house wrapping himself in a blanket while an owl watches from a window.
Reading Time: 2 minutes

Milo the little mouse lived inside a cozy hole near a farmer’s house.
Every night, before going to sleep, he liked to visit his friends — the cow, the cat, and the owl.

One cold evening, Milo couldn’t find his blanket. “Oh no!” he squeaked. “How will I sleep without it?”

He scurried to the barn. The cow was munching hay.
“Have you seen my blanket?” asked Milo.
The cow shook her head kindly. “No, little one, but you can rest here beside my warm tail.”

Milo tried, but the cow’s tail kept swishing! “Too windy,” he giggled.

Next, he climbed up to the window sill where the cat was curled up.
“May I borrow a corner of your soft fur?” Milo asked politely.
The cat purred. “Of course, but be careful — I move a lot in my sleep.”

Milo snuggled close, but soon the cat rolled over, almost squishing him!
“Too risky!” laughed Milo, running away.

Finally, he met the owl sitting on a tree branch.
“Owl, I lost my blanket!” Milo said.
The owl blinked slowly. “Look around, my friend. Sometimes what you seek is closer than you think.”

Milo looked around his little home — and there it was! His blanket had been tucked under a piece of cheese all along.

He wrapped himself in it, smiled, and whispered, “Thank you, Owl.”

Then he curled up, warm and happy. Outside, the owl hooted softly, “Good night, Milo.”

Moral of the Story:

Sometimes, what we search for far away is right beside us — we just need to look carefully.
